Called to Serve

I'm Alicia Garver, and I'm a Mormon. I'm currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission. I love what I'm doing, and I'm excited to be sharing His message and His love with the people in Georgia.

Come for a ride with me as I share my experiences...by bicycle and walking shoes!

11/16/15 Change and Miracles

Transfer was on Wednesday and I am training my newest daughter, Sister

Jacobs.

She was born and raised in Ogden and has never been anywhere

east or south of there. It's so cute to see her so in awe of all the
trees and all the diversity and all the accents here in Georgia. She
came at the perfect time though. After three weeks straight of gray
and rain and depression, the sky cleared up and there is sun! The sky
is blue! I had forgotten it did that. The chilly weather is so much
easier to bear when the sky is beautiful.

This week has been full of change. Not only was Sister Kinser
transferred, but we also lost a pair of elders. The ward now only has
us and one set of elders. Also, in the past seven days, our ward
mission leader was released and moved out, our Relief Society
President was released and the Elders Quorum President was released.
Oh boy. So not only am I training a new missionary and watching over 6
other sisters, but we'll also be training the new ward mission leader
and RS president and EQ president. That'll be an adventure. But it's
alright. The Lord knows what He is doing, and He chose the three best
people in the ward for the job. All us missionaries went from shock,
to extreme depression, to joy, all in about 60 seconds on Sunday.

This past week has also been an amazing one for the work in
Lawrenceville. I love training new missionaries because the Lord
always follows new missionaries with miracles. Every time. The past
bit has been kinda slow, but as soon as Sister Jacobs got here we
found four new investigators and had amazing lessons. We decided to
stop by one of the recent converts in the ward that I didn't know yet
and introduce ourselves, but Darien (the friend he is staying with)
answered the door and told us he wasn't home. We asked if the recent
convert had ever shared anything about the church with him, and he
said no and when we asked if he would like to know more, he said yes!
He went and got his mother and we were able to give them both a copy
of the Book of Mormon and they promised to read the introduction
before we came back.

We went back yesterday with the former RS president and they both
promptly pulled out their copies of the Book of Mormon. They both had
read and then kept going! They told us in detail about Lehi and their
journey into the wilderness. We taught the first lesson and they both
understood, took notes, and agreed to be baptized once they prayed and
received confirmation from the Spirit. Our team up shared her
conversion story and the Spirit was so strong. They are sooo elect and
prepared. It was amazing!!

Love ya'll!
Sister Garver
